5 Ways You are Your Own Competition

In Today’s world filled with social media posts of people living their extravagant lifestyle (even though in reality most of them are not), advertising that’s constantly telling us how we should dress, what we should look like and what brands make us cool or apart of the in-crowd. It’s easy to fall victim of the Jones’s Syndrome where you constantly chase after someone else’s expectations instead of focusing on your own. You’re your own competition and no external sources should affect that way you feel about yourself. These are 5 ways you’re your own competition.

Always work to be better than you where yesterday. You are your own competition. No matter if you want to lose weight, learn a new skill, make more money or
put an end to a bad habit. Take a small step each day and stay consistent. Everyday you can grow and move closer to the person you want to become. You got this.

Get rid of negative thoughts.

Thoughts influence feelings and feelings determine how you view your work. You have a lot of thoughts in your head, and you always have a choice of which ones to focus on: the ones that will make you emotionally stuck or the ones that will move you forward (experimenting, trying new things, stepping out your comfort zone).

After get rid of negative thoughts is to use your imagination. When things go well, you are full of positive energy, and when you are experiencing difficulties, you need to be even more energetic. Always think and say positive things only, then see what happens.

Plan your days.

If you are in competition with yourself, you must know your three forward steps. You do not need more. Fill out your weekly calendar, noting when you will do what and how. When, what and how is important to schedule. Review how each day went by what you learned and revise what you could improve.

You lack motivation not because you are lazy or don’t have a goal. Even the biggest stars, richest businesspeople or the most accomplished athletes get lost sometimes. What makes them motivated is the curiosity about how much better or faster they can get. So above all, be curious, and this will lead to your goals and success.

Never expect from others.

If you want to achieve your goals, never expect others to do anything for you. Everyone is busy with their own needs. Try to become an achiever of your own goals. It’s all about you. Do diverse tasks; keep switching between something creative and logical, something physical and skill, working alone and with a team.

Be patient with yourself

No matter what you are trying to do in your life or where you are trying to go, be patient. Getting to success takes patience. Not only with yourself, with others too. Each of us express our thoughts differently, and we all come from different perspectives. Sometimes our definitions of success are different. Be patient with yourself when you are your own competition.

Every single person has the opportunity to learn new things. It takes curiosity, an open mind and a desire to be better at something. Be open, and do everything you can to keep learning. Expose yourself to new ideas, to new people and to different opportunities.

Learning opens your horizons in a way that allows sailing toward success more easily.

Always trust yourself.

You are capable of success in every area of your life. It’s not about talent, circumstances, or luck. It’s about learning and applying certain life skills and then monitoring your results and make little adjustments in your approach.

Setting goals is something we do naturally. The trouble is most of us tending to do it almost unconsciously without taking the time to perfect the process. Then, when things don’t turn out the way we had hoped we internalize our disappointments in a way that creates doubt in our abilities.

Many people think that qualities like confidence, communication, creativity, motivation, focus, courage, and determination are something you are born with. I believe those qualities are learned life skills that anyone can master if they are willing to apply themselves. These are advanced life skills and the better you become at them, the more successful your life will be. The life skills have enormous practical value because they can literally transform the quality of your life.

Finally, stay on the lookout for any signs of self sabotaging behavior or vanishing interest. If you notice that you are acting in ways that don’t further your goals or support your success, get to the root of the problem quickly so you can get back on track.
